And the reason was to burn his fat and become fit. You won’t believe that Neeraj was a fat boy in his teenage years because he loves to eat dairy products. Neeraj’s Uncle Bhim Chopra suggested him to go for some physical activity and enrolled Neeraj in a gym in Panipat City. Moreover, Neeraj used to travel 17 Kms daily from his house to Gym. There was a stadium named Shivaji stadium that Neeraj often visited and there he saw the Javelin first time. He started taking interest in Javelin Throwing and the rest is history.

Neeraj Chopra was also an officer in the Indian Army before entering the race of the Olympics. In 2016, he joined the Indian Army as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) with the rank of Naib Subedar. He was offered this post by the great Rajputana Rifles in appreciation for his outstanding performance in South Asian Games.

He threw his javelin for 82.23m and broke the previous Asian Games Record. Along with that Neeraj also equaled the Indian National Record of that time. 6. His ‘Career threatening’ Arm injury

If you want to succeed in your life then there will always be struggles in your life. And same happened with Neeraj Chopra. In the year 2019, Neeraj Chopra had a critical Elbow injury because he developed spurs in his elbow. Unfortunately, the injured arm was his right arm and also the throwing arm. His injury was so critical that he had to miss the World Championship in Doha. Neeraj had an important two-hour surgery in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Hospital of Mumbai. His elbow got stuck in a locked position because of tissue damage inside the arm. He received a critical two-hour-long arm surgery in May 2019.
The medical team suggested him to take rest in order to recover and Neeraj was in bed for long 16 months. It takes a lot of patience for anybody going through this type of situation but Neeraj didn’t give up. He comeback hard and qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the rest is history.

  4.  Neeraj won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games held in 2018.
